About Harvey

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 13-0103
  • Color: red & white
  • Current Age: 8 Years 8 Months (best estimate)
  • Reaction to New People: Cautious

Harvey's been through a LOT this year!  He was neglected by his owner and left to wander the SF streets until a good samaritan swooped in and brought him to Animal Care & Control.  Since then, no less than three rescue groups have offered to take him, then changed their minds-leaving Harvey at the ACC for over a month.  This is a very loooong time for a sensitive guy like Harvey!

Harvey is a little skittish at first, and requires a slow approach.  He is quick to warm up to women, but is quite fearful of most men.  He is very even-tempered around most dogs, and will not snap even if they mercilessly solicit play, but he's much more interested in the humans in the room.  Harvey would be a great addition to a family of adults, as a single dog, or as a companion to another mellow pup.  He has been cat-tested and has done quite well with felines.  If you'd like to make the rest of Harvey's year better than its start, please fill out an application at

How much does it COST to adopt?

Northern California Family Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation & rehoming of homeless dogs.  Our standard adoption fees are $300-400 for adult dogs and $350-450 for puppies, and occasionally more for rare or purebred dogs.   Your adoption fee includes DA2PP, Bordetella & Rabies vaccines, deworming, flea treatment & heartworm preventative, spay/neuter surgery, microchip &  Wellness Exam, & helps cover the costs of food, transport, veterinary needs, shelter maintenance and staffing for every pup in our care.   We rely solely on adoption fees and donations to keep us going, so we ask that you be as generous as you can!
