Jazzy is a character and a favorite of all of us at Family Dog. Originally, she came to us after being rescued from a hoarder and had been through tough time in her life . Despite that,  she still keeps her head high and is able to dig her way to our hearts. She loves toys, and loves to play fetch and she knows many commands including sit, down, come, stay, down, wait and touch.  Jazzy  is selective with other dogs.  She does better with smaller dogs so would need a slow introduction to a home that has a resident dog.  She would also be perfectly happy to be your one and only without other  dogs. Despite being a middle aged girl, Jazzy is a fantastic walker + hiker and is in terrific shape. So if you like beach romps, hikes or long city walks, she is your gal.   She loves being out and about and can go for hours on a good walk.  Jazzy is a sweet curmudgeon....she may initially bark at new people but warms up quickly.  This is how her former foster person described her:

Jazzy  "takes directions easily and is respectful of your belongings. She is super smart. I think you could train her to do just about anything. ...Jazzy would make a great guard dog. She will alert you to intruders into the house. We once had a party with about a dozen people over, and she barked at every new person, but once they had been in the house for a couple of minutes, she got along with them just fine, and our friends enjoyed her. She chased my 3 year old nephew around the table for his food, and she played tug of war with many toys and people.  She both loves to play if you offer to play with her, but is also quite independent and happy to just chill on her own while you do your thing. She is an incredibly low-maintenance dog."
She had a wonderful foster person whose job situation changed making it impossible for her to continue to foster Jazzy full time, so she is back with us at our shelter and that makes Jazzy and all of us very sad.   This girl really needs and deserves a great  home.  There are many advantages to taking on an older dog—the most important being that what you see is exactly what you get. There is no mid-life change of personality nor any of the drama (or toilet training) associated with a puppy or young dog!  Jazzy is housebroken, up to date on shots, microchipped, spayed and has had her teeth cleaned and had her bloodwork done. Everything checks out A-OK! Jazzy  has plenty of love and life left to give. Finally, if you're reading this on a site other than Family Dog's website, please visit Jazzy's listing there to see lots of pictures and a video of her...the pictures will show  you why we love her so much.
