Naomi is a sweet 5 year old spayed brindle girl who came to us from Southern California.  Her shelter paperwork listed her as a pit bull mix, but we don't see a spot of pit in her.  We only have certain breeds to choose from when we enter a dog in our system and we think Mountain Cur was the closest we could get.  What the heck is a Moutain Cur?  These are active, athletic intelligent dogs thought to have arrived via European imports bred with Native American treeing dogs.  These dogs tend to be healthy and vary widely in their abilities.  They may tree or herd or both or neither!  Generally, these pups need plenty of exercise and stimulation and yes, they can climb and Naomi is no exception. Head for the nearest computer and look up "cur" in Wikipedia and you'll get the picture!  But Naomi isn't all fire.  She  is five years old, so what you see is what you get..she is an active girl for sure, but her sweet temperament is not a phase!   Naomi is fully up to date on her shots, is microchipped and she is ready to go home.  She's a pretty good sized gal, weighing in at 58.0lbs.  Can you resist her brilliant blue eyes?   Naomi plays well with some other dogs under supervision, but likes to be in charge, so she would do best as the only dog in her household.  Visit our website at and fill out and application if you'd like to meet her!

How much does it COST to adopt?

Northern California Family Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation & rehoming of homeless dogs.  Our standard adoption fees are $300-400 for adult dogs and $350-450 for puppies, and occasionally more for rare or purebred dogs.   Your adoption fee includes DA2PP, Bordetella & Rabies vaccines, deworming, flea treatment & heartworm preventative, spay/neuter surgery, microchip &  Wellness Exam, & helps cover the costs of food, transport, veterinary needs, shelter maintenance and staffing for every pup in our care.   We rely solely on adoption fees and donations to keep us going, so we ask that you be as generous as you can!
