Meet Rico! He is a 3 year old Husky/Shepherd/Collie mix rescued from a high kill shelter in the Central Valley Poor Rico was adopted from Family Dog in February, 2011.  His human recently moved to Mexico and left Rico behind.  For the past two years he has lived with another dog and the people who know him tell us he is good with people including kids, as well as other dogs, including smaller dogs.  Rico is very smart, needs plenty of exercise and does well off leash.  He is a bit of a sensitive soul and is feeling a little anxious these days so he'd love a gentle loving home that would provide him with the training, structure and security he needs.  He has had a backyard for the last two years and if we can find him a home with a yard, that would be great, but isn't necessarily required.  Rico is currently in foster home with kids, dogs and cats and is doing well.   If you'd like to meet this sweet gentleman, please fill out an application on our website at

How much does it COST to adopt?

Northern California Family Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation & rehoming of homeless dogs.  Our standard adoption fees are $300-400 for adult dogs and $350-450 for puppies, and occasionally more for rare or purebred dogs.   Your adoption fee includes DA2PP, Bordetella & Rabies vaccines, deworming, flea treatment & heartworm preventative, spay/neuter surgery, microchip &  Wellness Exam, & helps cover the costs of food, transport, veterinary needs, shelter maintenance and staffing for every pup in our care.   We rely solely on adoption fees and donations to keep us going, so we ask that you be as generous as you can!
